Sources of Funding

Since inception Lereko has established and maintains excellent relationships with a number of leading financial institutions in South Africa. Lereko’s financial business partners include ABSA, Nedbank, AMB Capital, FirstRand and Investec. Lereko considers funding sources on a deal by deal basis seeking attractive terms through strong relationships.

Lereko also has strong relationships with development financing institutions, including the Land Bank, the Industrial Development Corporation and Development Bank of Southern Africa.

The Lereko Metier Fund, established in 2006 provides a further source of funding. The Fund seeks to make equity and equity-related investments of R50 million to R500 million each. These investments will generally be privately negotiated in both listed and unlisted securities. Investments will be targeted in sectors that capture sustained growth resulting from structural changes implemented in the socio-political business environment in the South African region. These businesses can benefit from further transformation in line with BEE imperatives and require the added value derived from association with Lereko. Food and consumer products, manufacturing, and mining, resources and chemicals are just some of the sectors targeted for Lereko Metier Fund investments. Read more >>
