Lereko Hospitality

In January 2008, Lereko acquired a 15% stake in Tsebo Outsourcing Group (Tsebo), the largest black empowered hospitality and facilities management company in Southern Africa. Tsebo’s portfolio includes companies such as Fedics and Drake and Scull, with an annual turnover in excess of R2bn.

Tsebo has a proud record, not only as a pace-setter for the concept of Black Economic Empowerment, but also for implementing strategies that have been meaningful and rewarding for both shareholders and employees. As early as 1984, the Group saw the need to begin the empowerment of its staff through an effective affirmative action programme. It has continued to be both a pioneer and a role model in the arena of empowerment, winning a number of awards.

The partnership with Tsebo allows Lereko to practice its core objective of adding value in a company that is continuously transforming to ensure that it remains at the forefront of its industry. Of Tsebo’s nearly 8 000 employees, 90% are black and of this almost 35% are in management positions. The Group places great emphasis on the completion and fulfillment of its Skills Development and Employment Equity plans.

Lereko supports Tsebo’s strong commitment to corporate social responsibility, its philosophy of personal involvement and true empowerment, as opposed to providing only financial assistance.

Lereko brings to Tsebo a diverse and complementary skill set capable of interacting and adding value at various levels. This includes industry expertise and business acumen.
